SAN FRANCISCO, June 28, 2017 – Practice Fusion, Inc., the #1 cloud-based electronic health record (EHR) platform, announced today that the Practice Fusion EHR (Version 3.6) has achieved Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Prevalidation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for NCQA’s PCMH 2014 Program.

PCMH Prevalidation is designed to help practices identify health IT solutions that alleviate or make more efficient administrative aspects of meeting NCQA PCMH Program requirements. Practices using the Practice Fusion EHR (Version 3.6) are now prevalidated to receive 10.87 points in approved automatic credit (autocredit) towards NCQA’s PCMH 2014 scoring, helping them to more easily achieve PCMH Recognition. The Practice Fusion EHR (Version 3.6) also earned a supporting designation for 31 factors in the PCMH 2014 Standards. This means that Practice Fusion’s customers will have a more streamlined pathway towards achieving at least 58 of the factors required for formal NCQA PCMH Recognition. Practices that use an NCQA Prevalidated system with autocredit awarded to a factor also do not have to submit documentation for that associated factor within their PCMH Survey.

Practice Fusion’s PCMH 2014 Prevalidation demonstrates a commitment to Patient-Centered Medical Home and other similar value-based reimbursement initiatives. Broadly recognized as an innovative program for improving primary care and lowering healthcare costs, NCQA’s PCMH Recognition program assists practices to better organize care around patients, work in teams, and coordinate and track care over time.

“[PCMH] closes the gap of communication because it provides extra care for the patients when they leave the office,” said Dr. Mary Ann Moore, M.D., a Practice Fusion customer. “A lot of patients leave the office, and they don’t remember what they should do…I think that we have improved outcomes in some specific patient populations [such as] diabetes, which requires a lot of education.”

In addition to helping provide overall better quality of care for patients, practices that achieve NCQA PCMH Recognition may benefit in multiple ways, including:

Improved efficiency and lower practice costs. NCQA’s PCMH guidelines are best-in-class for helping to streamline care coordination and care management.
Enhanced reimbursement support. Federal, state and commercial payers may offer incentive programs and greater support to practices that receive NCQA PCMH Recognition.
Additional recognition. Accreditation indicates to patients that a practice offers enhanced services and higher quality of care.

“By providing software that helps physician practices build the patient-focused, coordinated care infrastructure expected of NCQA patient-centered medical homes, Practice Fusion is helping practices be part of modern healthcare’s most important transformations,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane. “Medical homes are the way of the future, and Practice Fusion is helping practices get there.”
